DAY 2: SPRINT – AGIOS NIKOLAOS on SUP – ICF SUP WORLD CUP 2024. Speed and action!

The second day of AGIOS NIKOLAOS on SUP – ICF SUP WORLD CUP 2024 concluded on Saturday, September 28th, with the thrilling Sprint Race. With 192 participants from various countries, the athletes gave their all on a day packed with speed, thrilling battles, and strong races.

 

SPRINTS 150M MEN

World champion Andrii Kraitor from Bulgaria, with an explosive pace, repeated last year’s success by once again securing 1st place, confirming his undeniable speed with a time of 00:00:38.686, leaving behind his top known “rival” and European champion Vadim Korobov from Lithuania, who followed with 00:00:40.353. 

Andrii Kraitor, after an unfortunate fall in the Technical finals, returned with a vengeance, delivering an exciting race and a triumphant celebration that thrilled the audience, which applauded him enthusiastically!

Greek athlete Phaedon Doukas, with determination, secured 3rd place on the podium with a time of 00:00:40.573, adding another success for Greece. This year, Doukas made it to the podium after last year’s misfortune, where he lost 2nd place due to a fall just before the finish line!

SPRINTS 150M WOMEN

In the women’s category, world champion Alonso Frey Alba from Spain left no room for doubt, confirming her dominance by finishing 1st with a time of 00:00:48.094.

Polish athlete Marta Apanasewicz impressed by securing 2nd place with a time of 00:00:49.841, while Greek athlete Kyriaki Logotheti completed the podium with a time of 00:00:50.066, showcasing her strong presence in the event, competing for the first time in the women’s category this year.

Paris Katniss from the USA, despite a strong start, faced intense pressure from Kyriaki Logotheti, losing her rhythm and ultimately failing to make it to the podium, finishing in 4th place.
