Agios Nikolaos On SUP supports the Friends of the Children’s Village of Neapolis and the Social Grocery Store
Agios Nikolaos On SUP 2018, the largest and most anticipated SUP event in Greece, is not just a meeting point for the top representatives of the field from Greece and abroad. It has an even more important character, its charity purpose.
It is definitely worth mentioning that the money collected from participants’ registrations is available to support the Friends of Children’s Village of Neapolis and the Social Grocery Store of the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos.
The Association of Friends of Neapolis is a non-profit association based in Neapoli, Municipality of Agios Nikolaos, Crete, aiming to volunteer through the Lassithi Children’s Protection Center.
Their aims are to improve the quality of the children’s lives hosted in the Children’s Protection Center, to protect every child in need of psychological and emotional support to avoid social marginalization and to assist the children in achieving better integration within the society.
The Social Grocery of the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos was created in October 2015 in order to cover the basic needs of families affected by poverty and social exclusion due to the difficult economic climate facing the country. Today it serves 111 families with a total of 315 members. 78 of these are located in the wider area of the city of Agios Nikolaos and 33 in the Neapolis area.
The Social Grocery is financially supported by the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos Social Services Organization, as well as by sponsorships, donations and offers of items & products by citizens, associations, organizations, businesses and professionals.
